As someone who enjoys uploading sketches to YouTube, I forget how easy it is for others to “draw inspiration” from something which may have taken you a lot of time and effort to create.

Haribo did it with their Star Mix ad in 2008: which is incredibly similar to the sequel of Will Ferrell’s…

  3. 10 facts about The Lord Mayor of Bristol

Pretty much all you ever wanted to know about the current Lord Mayor of Bristol, in 10 easy to digest facts. Amaze your friends down the pub with above average Mayoral knowledge.

    > He has a moustache.
    > His name is Colin.
    > He enjoys visiting new supermarkets (except the new Tesco in Stokes Croft, because he doesn’t want to get involved in local politics or anything).
    > His office is in Clifton Down.
    > He has no direct power. Questionably, he’s useless.
    > His term of office is one year.
    > The first Lord Mayor was granted in 1899. Not Colin obv.
    > He likes bling, fast cars and sexy ladies.
    > The next Lord Mayor will be elected in May. Fingers crossed Colin!
    > Colin is divorced.

I hope that was interesting for you.

Top 5 Sunny Places in Bristol →

    mjhizzy:

Hooray, the sun has arrived. As accurate as I can be considering the hangover I am currently nursing, here are my top 10 top 5 sunny places in Bristol. From my desk on a beatiful sunny Sunday afternoon, but I am one bear with one sore head. I digress..

    In no particular order..

    1, Mrs Browns in…

Brislington is a “built up housing estate”? Fuck off, it’s a residential area but it’s surrounded by woodland (if you bother to walk up the road from said shop you’d find Leigh Woods/Nightingale Valley/Arnos Park, depending on which direction you go). Tarrs is NOT in St. Annes either, they are two separate areas and I’m pretty sure Tarrs does not have a shop there.

Yes I’m being pedantic, but I know my local geography. Their ice cream is amazing though.

Well at least we agree on the ice cream. A housing estate is a residential area where the houses were planned and built around the same time. They do have a shop on Sandown Road. Leigh Woods is 5 miles away…

What’s the difference between a residential area and a housing estate?

Hooray, the sun has arrived. As accurate as I can be considering the hangover I am currently nursing, here are my top 10 top 5 sunny places in Bristol. From my desk on a beatiful sunny Sunday afternoon, but I am one bear with one sore head. I digress..

    In no particular order..

1, Mrs Browns in Victoria Park
I only discovered it this lunchtime on my weary walk home. One cheese and ham toastie with real ham, not processed crap, for £2.20 which is a bargain in my opinion because it tasted nice. If you have kids, there’s a play area right next to the place. If you don’t have screaming kids, then prepare for darling Isabelle to scream midway through your toasted snack. You’ll find her at the top of the park.

2, Tarr’s Ice Cream in Brislington
OK, so it’s in the middle of a built-up housing estate in Brislington, or St Anne’s depending on your taste. Probably the best ice cream on earth, supplied in mini cardboard tubs on demand, with raspberry sauce and nuts on top. That’s my preference anyway. Sit in your hot car with the windows down and pretend you’re at the seaside.
    Visit their lovely website

    3, Beeses Tea Garden
A victim of it’s own popularity on a weekend with hen parties and motivational office outings. It opens later on this month and my top tip is to visit during a weekday lunchtime when it’s quiet and quite simply, beautiful.
    Find them on Twitter

    4, Fishminster
Go to Fishminster on North Street. Buy some fish and chips. Head down to Greville Smyth Park. Munch. Really satisfying thing which I intend to do later on. Apparently they are now open on Whiteladies Road too so you could do the same but use The Downs instead (not when it’s dark, obv).
    Read about them on Yelp

    5, Brunels Buttery
The best bacon sandwiches in Bristol. This place is based on the Floating Harbour, between The Olive Shed and SS Great Britain. The Evening Post says they sell 70,000 bacon sandwiches every year. Or around 146 pigs according to the internet.
    Look at them on Google

    Go and visit them all.

  8. The Vauxhall Triangle

Vauxhall Bridge is between Coronation Road and Cumberland Road, a footbridge that passes over the canal in Southville. Within a short walking distance you get awesome views of the Harbourside, Clifton Wood, Brandon Hill and The Suspension Bridge - so it’s a pretty nice place to be.

The Vauxhall Triangle is the result of a mini pub crawl yesterday evening, starting off at The Cottage Inn right on the Harbourside. This has always been a favourite of mine and is a real sun trap in the warmer months. My drink of choice is Butcombe Blonde - after all the pub is owned by the brewery!

Next stop is The Orchard, which is just off Cumberland Road. A traditional cider pub, which is a 5 minute walk along the Harbourside from The Cottage. Both of these pubs are not the biggest in the world, so were busy with Saturday drinkers.

Final stop - The Avon Packet on Coronation Road, a short walk over the bridge. Operated by the longest serving landlord in Bristol, the Packet is one of the cheapest boozers around. By now the drink of choice was Courage Best, free pizza was being handed out and everyone full of alcohol induced cheer.

Within a mile there are other pubs that I would never go to, but these three all feature friendly punters. Many a conversation with the locals has taken place in The Packet during the short time I have been going there, the buffet food is fantastic plus the garden features a pool table and ducks!

If you like traditional pubs The Vauxhall Triangle is worth a crawl or two.
